Beanie Sigel – Think Big (Jay-Z Diss) [Music]
I felt compelled to share the new Beanie Sigel diss at Jay-Z since it’s something I can no longer remain silent on. I do believe that Jay-Z may have kept Beanie Sigel in the dark about a number of projects including Roc-A-Wear, and perhaps short-changed the rapper on a few business deals. But Beanie Sigel had various opportunities (in my opinion) to branch out from under Jay-Z’s shadow, and become his own artist, with a unique identity and selling point.
Take Kanye West for an example. Without Jay-Z he wouldn’t have the career he has now. Quite simply Kanye West was clever (and egotistical and greedy) but that’s what the Hip-Hop world is about. When you get a chance you MUST grab it and profit from it, both short and long term. Beanie Sigel released some “safe” albums, which meant he did enough to sell them to the point where he remained an average artist on the Roc-A-Fella roster.
I really enjoy listening to Beanie Sigel, he’s a GREAT artist and I feel we still haven’t heard the best from him. But teaming up with 50 Cent and going all out against Jay-Z isn’t exactly the best way of doing things. “Think Big” is appropriately titled, and it’s ironic he hasn’t done this in the last ten years.
