HHK: Thanks for speaking to us Komp’l. As the fans aware we proudly hosted the new mixtape “Tunnel Vision“. The response on the blog was great, however how did the fans find the mixtape? And how would you describe your music to people who are thinking of downloading?

Komp’l: First off it’s a pleasure to be speaking with you HHK I appreciate you hosting my mixtape.  Well as far as finding my mixtape I just did heavy promotion through the networking sites such as twitter, MySpace, Facebook, e-mailing and word of mouth. I would describe my music as feel good music, music for everyone doesn’t really matter what genre of music your into you will be able to vibe to at least one song of mine.

HHK: The single “So Cold” was leaked prior to the mixtape. What qualities did the song have which made it stand out as the single?

Komp’l: Well So Cold is one of my favourite tracks we actually had this song finished since last year and been promoting it as just a single. The song has that raw Hip-Hop feel, lyrical and the beat goes hard it also describes me as an artist. It got so much good feedback we decided to put it out on this mixtape knowing the mixtape will get out to a bigger audience So cold has been played at venues and the feedback it has gotten has just been a tremendous and a blessing so it was no question we were going with so Cold as the first single

HHK: How are Gemstars involved with your career and the mixtape release as well?

Komp’l: Gemstars are my family they are my team my label so they very heavy in my career I’ve known these guys for years so their opinion and input I trust and take heed to. We stayed in the studio tweaking up this mixtape night after night. So to have a team like Gemstars behind you I’m destined for bigger things you know

HHK: What projects have you been involved with in the past? And do you think that Tunnel Vision is your best release to date?

Komp’l: Well Tunnel Vision is my first official mixtape I’ve done small mixtapes for people around my way but I don’t count it you know. But I was just on fellow Gemstars member Bobby’s mixtape “The Introduction” make sure y’all download that. And little features here and there that’s all. But Tunnel Vision is compiled with my best work I have done so far but I do have more hot tracks that didn’t make the mixtape.

HHK: The one person featured on the mixtape is Bobby. What qualities does Bobby have that made him “eligible” to be featured? And are there any artists you’d like to work with in the future?

Komp’l: Well Bobby like I said before is a Gemstars member so we are just trying to promote us as a brand it was only right to put a team member up there. I didn’t want a mixtape full features like I can’t hold my own this was my first mixtape like my introduction to the world so I wanted them to see that I am able to make songs by myself I’m not just a 16 bar type person this is what I do you know. I’m always open to work with other artists.  I would like to work wit you have Skyzoo, Emilio Rojas, Sha Stimuli, Mickey Factz, Cory Gunz guys like that. But I really, really want to work with Joe Budden and Lupe Fiasco.

HHK: What plans do you have for the rest of 2009? And should we expect to hear any new music or singles in the near future?

Komp’l: To closeout the year I’m jus finish promoting Tunnel Vision doing some shows, music videos coming also. Of course you will be hearing new music songs freestyles I’m not slacking one minute so look out for all of that

HHK: What music are you currently listening to at the moment?

Komp’l: Man I’m currently listening to Slaughterhouse album, Lupe Fiasco, Joe Budden, Michael Jackson and the Jacksons albums, Chester French. I listen to everybody they may not stay in rotation, but I listen to everybody though

HHK: Where are the best places where fans can check for updates? And is there anything else you’d like to add to the interview?

Komp’l: Fans can hit me up at twitter.com/kompel I’m constantly up there tweeting or add my MySpace myspace.com/nicefornoreason and I would like to say thank you to all the fans supporting me thank you. Hip-HopKings lookout for a lot more it’s just the beginning Bobby’s new mixtape will be dropping lookout for that and just new tracks coming from me. Keep supporting good music God bless

HHK: Thanks again for speaking to Hip-HopKings.Com. Keep in touch and good luck for the future!
