Trey Songz – Passion Pain and Pleasure [Exclusive]

Celebrating a very successful music career, Trey Songz has now released his fourth studio album “Passion, Pain and Pleasure” which is available digitally and physically worldwide. The American singer boasted an impressive 240,000 album sales in the first week, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Trey Songz’s album was potentially compromised as various tracks leaked. He admirably responded by saying “Bootleggers gotta eat, I ain’t mad at ya’ll”.

The two singles released from Passion, Pain and Pleasure are “Bottoms Up” which features Nicki Minaj, which had a high position of six on the Billboard 200 chart, and “Can’t Be Friends” produced by Mario Winans. There are unconfirmed rumours that the next single, and possibly the best from the aforementioned will be “Unusual” which features the in-demand Drake. Trey Songz has played it safe with the singles, Nicki Minaj has created a certain, yet un-necessary hype, and Drake will do exactly what Young Money are best at – more awareness and hype surrounding the album.

As a whole the album is very relaxing, and is perfect as background music to create an ambience for a perfect atmosphere. Unfortunately I’m confident that’s what Trey Songz and Songbook/Atlantic weren’t exactly looking for. Listening to the album multiple times failed to grip me for even a run of three tracks, and I found myself wondering elsewhere (hence the background music reference). The highlight songs are undoubtedly “Alone” and “Unusual” which also features Drake, which is why I’d expect that to be the next single from the album too.

If you’re a fan of Trey Songz I’d strongly encourage you buying the album, and you won’t be disappointed. For the Hip-Hop / Grime readers it won’t be your cup of tea, and unless you’re attempting to be romantic for the opposite sex you won’t find the album value for money. Allmusic gave the album 4/5, and I can co-sign the album is a more mature Trey Songz when compared to his previous release “Ready”. I’ve posted the Amazon download link which is the cheapest I can find on the Internet, so fans can download from the link above.
