As we continue to re-brand from Hip-Hop Kings to HHKMag, the increased focus on the Movie world is one of our biggest priorities. A perfect opportunity presented itself at Comic Con this year for the first movie editorial to be published on the website written by yours truly. You’ll usually see David Bosworth or Joe Langham cover the editorials and film reviews, however I wanted to share my personal thoughts so please let me know in the comments below whether you agree!
Lets go back to Saturday, where DC made the announcement that their next movie (following Man of Steel) would be their 2015 release featuring both Superman AND Batman. The news broke in typically melodramatic style, as a giant Superman logo was projected over the Batman logo for the fans in attendance to witness. In the same mentality that their lead character Iron Man would have, Marvel updated the world that their next Avengers movie will be titled “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. I’l hold my hands up and admit I didn’t know who Ultron is, so I’ll let the following link do the explaining. WHO IS ULTRON?
Both DC and Marvel have confirmed the aforementioned movies will be released in 2015, and although fans are excited to see plenty of high-octane, on-screen battles, the true Corporate Battle is that of DC vs Marvel, and as the title of the post suggests, Who Will Be Victorious?
The catalyst for this battle was the 2005 release of “Batman Begins” with Christopher Nolan as director, who ultimately went to create one of my favourite trilogies of all time. 2008 was Marvel’s release of Iron Man, but Marvel’s work with director Jon Favreau and team of writers really set new records both visually, and financially for the proceeding years. Everyone reading will know exactly what followed and the continued new heights that the followed movies have reached.
I’m a fan of both but if I had to choose, personally I’d go with Marvel. My two joint favourite characters (Batman and Iron Man) initially split my decision, but the strength of the Marvel roster is by far superior to those at DC. Only the marketing and actually movies will ultimately crown the winner but I am expecting split decisions from movie fans around the world.
