View Full Version : Favourite Reggae Joints?
OH LAWD!!! dont even get me started!
first of all Im a Huge Damian (aka Jr. Gong) Marley Fan
*puts Damian on
Still Searchin'
Stuck In Between
His First disc Mr. Marley was great, and he made it when he was 16 with his bro Stephen
and his second one Halfway Tree won a grammy a few years ago
(and i dated his bro. lol!)
Then theres Sizzla
Solid as a Rock
Dry Cry
Never Scared (on Bone Crusher beat with jadakiss etc)
Elephant Man
His last album Good2Go was amazing... I swear i listened to that whole thing 100 times -=-- great workout disc!
-Head Gone
-All out
Beenie Man
there are just way too many to list, but ill try...
-Red Red (yes i like this track even tho the lyrics are pretty fucking disgusting and misogynitstic actually most of beenies content is really demeaning to women... and most reggae lyrics incl. bm are really against homosexuals - - which is really annoying. but thats another thread)
-Toy Friend
- King of Dancehall
- Doctor Mi Rate Yu
-Romie
Bounty Killer
- Do it Right
- Look into my eyes (amazing lyrics! just a great political track)
General Degree - traffic blocking
Baby Cham - Vitamin S
t.o.k. - Chi Chi man (great beat-- but yes this is one of those "anti-gay" songs... i go back on forth over whether or not i actually like it... but if you dont understand the lyrics, then you are okay...)
then there are some other great hip hop compilations.....
Who Dat - Jellestone ft. Elephant Man (Jellestone is a canadian emcee who sort of sounds like jarule)
Mardi Gras - Tanto Metro & devonte and joe budden
lyrical 44- meth, redman, and damian marley
nanana - 112, spragga benz, lady shaw, buccaneer 7 damian marley
girls calin - ghostface & elephant man
lowe is on my mind - shawna, baby cham & sisqo
frontin remx - Jay z, pharell, vybz kartel and wayne marshall
these last six are on a great compilation Def Jamaica (get it, def jam, jam-aica)
anyway, thatll do.
Consider yourself Enlightened.
Damn Lexx SEND girl, lol.
Why are some of these artists always getting done for anti gay lyrics? FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
I could stu.. i could.
Hey, stuey.. what ever happened to your big stance on supporting artists? i do believe it went like this, "BUY MUSIC PPL, SUPPORT THE ARTISTS..."
No? that wasnt you? *shrugs.. ah well...
lmao
so, nobody else on here listens to reggae?
really?
im shocked!
lol, good point, but at this moment in time, I have no money what so ever.
I would like to listen to some music.

bon Marley - Jammin
Weerrr Jamminn
I don't really feel much reggae apart from some of the bigger artists (Bob Marley, Buju Banton/UB40).
some reggae is ok in small doses not really a genre of music i listen to
omg its a genre that i spent a good year practically only listening to it.
i love reggae.. i love dancing to it- the rhythm of their voices-- the riddims.
altho i could only listen to so much for so long... there are a lot of ideas in reggae that i dont agree with-- and at first you dont notice or ignore it, because there is such a good beat.. but eventually you cant take it anymore... like Beenie Man. A lot of demeaning comments towards women and a lot of hate toward gays.. or T.O.K. with that song chi chi man -- "burn them."
or sizzla - who i loved, way too many anti-gay comments.
fortunately or unfortunately most ppl dont understand whats being said anyway, so they miss it.
I didnt think Beanie Man was? What was that tune he did early last year? I loved that tune
oh no... dude. you prolly mean Dude

Allright my all time Reggae list transcends in this order
Midnight Ravers- Bob Marley
Soul Rebel- Bob Marley
Smile Jamaica - Bob Marley
Bob Marley Medlay- Sublime
Greatest hits- Sublime
Steppin Razor- Peter Tosh
Legalize It- Peter Tosh
Still Searchin- Stephen N Damian
Educated Fools - Damian N Bounty hunter
Concrete Jungle- Marley
Trenchtown Rock- Marley
This Train- Marley
Stop that Train- Marley and Tosh
No woman no cry
I mainly like to stay away from most of Bob's commercial stuff, less meaning. By the way anyone who says Bob wrote Red Red wine, actually written several years after his death, which is also a grossly misguided rumor I'd be happy to correct upon, will be burned by myself at the stake. Also if
i see someone likes damian marley... and I said Id up some random jr. gong tracks...
so....

Damians illmatic. Shit man all anyone knows of Bob is Legend, they justl isten to him cuz he smokes pot Thats the fuckin most stupid thing I've ever heard
Yeah, that is very annoying- dont get me wrong, Legend was a great compillation disc.. but there are so many other great songs and albums that ppl are missing out on, and they are pretty cheap to purchase.
And yeah, i love Damian Marley- Love... I dated his brother (same mom) and he used to always play damian's songs in his playlist when we were going to bed and I fell in love (with damian not chris). Then I broke up with him and started forcing everyone I kno to listen to damian. Im still on the look out for his work with the Shepherds he did before his debut album Mr. Marley... after the Shepherds broke up he recorded the tracks "Deejay Degree" "Sexy Girls on My Mind" and "School Controversy"
so if anyone has it, it would be appreciated.

that's so fuckin cool, u fucked Damian Marley's brother! As far as Bob goes its not that Legend was a great compilation but where Marley's true message shines is songs like soul rebel n Midnight ravers
who said we had sex?
and i guess its "cool"- whatever... that wasnt really my point--- it was mostly me just giving detail on how i came to discover d.m. in true Lexx fashion aka excessive detail. lol.
