Hip-Hop Kings Interviews Charlie Sloth
HHK: Thanks for speaking to us Charlie! For the fans who haven’t heard your music, can you introduce yourself please?
Charlie Sloth: My name is Charlie Sloth (in a Michael Caine accent) The most watched man in Europe and the best looking fat guy on the planet!
HHK: The Charlie Sloth show is not only a great show to watch, but the creativity, and innovation behind the idea was fantastic. How did you come up with the idea? And how was the reaction from fans at the start?
Charlie Sloth: Thank you, I was looking for some kind of stickiness a reason for people to check back at my site at least once a week, i had self educated myself in all the sections of new media i thought was most important like Music production, editing, camera skills, directing, management, web design and creative writing and I thought how can I get across what I’m doing without coming across all arrogant. So I developed the idea of playing all the roles myself. I then created a pilot and took it to the guy’s at jump-off they put the first two episodes up and then worldstarhiphop.com came in and started screening the show exclusively every week. At first a lot of my fan base was confused I had a lot of negative feedback but I think that they did not really understand the concept.
HHK: Do you think that 50 Cent caught the idea, and decided to do a similar show for himself?
Charlie Sloth: Many people seem to think so. I’m not a great believer of coincidence but to be honest I wasn’t mad, I was humbled that people are taking notice and paying attention
HHK: One More Drink is the name of the new single. What can you tell us about the single? And how had promotion gone so far for the release?
Charlie Sloth: Yes “One More Drink” is the first single from my forthcoming album it’s produced by Dominic Owen, he has produced for Biggie Small, Jay-Z, Rakim, Lil Kim just to name a few. It’s based on a true story of me trying to impress a girl having one to many and doing one too many things I regret. Well being an Independent Artist it’s not easy getting Play listed and on that front I’m still banging at the door but the response I’ve had from Tabloids, Magazines and online blogs etc has been pretty insane. From being in the Daily Mirror to getting track of the week in Nuts magazine the feed back has been very positive
HHK: Do you have any concrete plans for the album release this year? And is there any confirmed guest production or artists working on the project with you?
Charlie Sloth: My album will drop in the summer this year the album has been produced by Dominic Owen, I also have a mix CD “The Blackbook” which will be dropping in Feb’ this year as a free download. The CD features all the best Rappers from the UK.
HHK: I personally follow you on Twitter, and see you’re a regular user. What are the other social media websites where fans can keep up with your music?
Charlie Sloth: I mainly use Twitter; my online vocal point is Charliesloth.com I’m trying to cement that as my hub. Follow me on Twitter to keep up with all my madness
HHK: Is there anything else you’d like to add to the interview?
Charlie Sloth: Yeah. Go and download “One More Drink” now from I-tunes or Amazon and don’t forget to get your weekly dose of my line show “Being Charlie Sloth” every Monday on www.charliesloth.com Thanks for having me Hip-HopKings.
HHK: Thanks again for speaking to Hip-HopKings.Com. Good luck in 2010 and keep in touch! Interview by Ryan Maxwell
