Soul Mafia have previously been featured on Hip-Hop Kings with their very popular video “I Cant Get Enough” which received a positive response. Their music has been described as a fusion of Hip-Hop, rock and soul, and the outcome can only be identified with Soul Mafia. Their upcoming album MK Ultra will be available from April 22nd 2010, and have excited fans with an upcoming collaboration with Slaughterhouse member Joe Budden. Mirk was previously featured on Hip-Hop Kings with the news that he sold the track “Crispy Benjamins” to Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z. Mirk is part of “The New Familiars” who have announced they are preparing to release their debut album LOVE in June 2010. Joshua “Mirk” Mirsky is rubbing shoulders with the biggest of Hip-Hop stars and will be a more familiar name throughout the course of the year. Dres of the legendary Hip-Hop outfit Black Sheep has announced plans to release a full length album titled “From The Black Pool of Genius” on April 6th 2010. In an effort to keep the fans in the know, Dres previously released the five track EP “From The Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude” to a wave of celebration in December. The EP was a good representation of what’s to come from the album. The album from Dres will feature guest appearances from AZ, Rhymefest and Jean Grear, with production from The Beatnuts amongst many others. I received word today that Rhymefest has officially set a release date for his upcoming sophomore album “El Che”. Available from 18th May 2010, Rhymefest is currently working at SoundScape Studios with Michael Kolar for El Che, and the news was initially leaked through his Twitter account. El Che will not be released through J Records after problems with the label, however Rhymefest has been working hard self-promoting the album release through UStream which is a great outlet for artists. For those who squander to romance (of course I’m not biased), one of my favourite upcoming artists Choze, along with Neu Beginin and ProtoStar Entertainment will be releasing a new valentines day mixtape called “Talentine”. Available from 14th February 2010, the likes of Hail Megatron who also hosted the “Respect Earned” mixtape have got involved, along with TheEarGasm and 87 Stick Up Kids. Little Brother is back for the very last time with a new album to satisfy the deepest of Hip-Hop fans with a brand new album “Left Back”. Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh combine once again for their fourth and final studio album, which will be available from April 20th 2010 via Hall of Justus Records. Production features Khyrsis, Denaun Porter and King Karnow amongst others, and guest appearances including Torae and Chaundon. Formed in 2008, Brainfeeder is a record label started by Flying Lotus which focuses on LA’s underground beat scene. A mix of Hip-Hop and electronica have proven a worthy sound. Daedelus is the outfit who will be releasing a mini-album to take advantage of the current music demand. The project is set to be available on the 22nd March 2010, and is titled the Righteous Fists of Harmoney. More to come from Daedelus very soon!
2010 is the year of QuESt. News has circulated for sufficient time for the underground Hip-Hop world to know the next release from QuESt is “How Thoughtful”. Hip-Hop Kings have already leaked “Swear Im Putting It On” and “Exhibit Q” which will both be featured on How Thoughtful. I now have the official artwork for the project which will be available from 11th February, and is presented by RubyHornet.Com and mixed by DJ RTC. Strange Famous artist B.Dolan has announced news that his upcoming album “Fallen House Sunken City” on March 2nd 2010. Produced entirely by Alias the master storyteller presents a full impact Hip-Hop record, which will feature guest appearances from the likes of P.O.S and Cadence Weapon. The second single from Fallen House Sunken City called “Earthmovers” is in the process of having a video recorded which will be available late February, and European tour dates will be announced shortly. The feedback from Drum N Bass group Pendulum has been great since I hosted and presented their music a few weeks ago. Noisia are of a similar quality, great production, hard hitting music and a full-on assault through musical genius. Noisia prepare to release their single “Machine Gun” which will be featured on the upcoming debut album “Split The Atom”. If you’re a fan of Pendulum you’ll appreciate the Noisia sound.
