Snoop Dogg Show Cancelled
Published on 30 March, 2006Email To Friend

Snoop Dogg has had a performance in Las Vegas, Nevada cancelled after authorities consistently pressured the tour co-ordinators to scrap the event.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Snoop was to headline a private party in the Rio Hotel, however the hotel's parent company urged law-enforcement authorities to cancel the show.

Sherriff Bill Young of the Las Vegas Police wrote a letter to the state, encouraging all casinos to cancel the booking of "hiphop" artists for performances. The Sheriff discouraged the lyrical content within in the genre.

The letter was inspired by the deaths of four local rappers last June, and a police officer who was shot dead by an aspiring rapper.
