DMX Leaves Def Jam For Columbia/Sony
Published on 15 January, 2006Email To Friend

DMX (real name Earl Simmons) has begun the rehabilitation of his music career by leaving Def Jam Records, and signing for the label who gave him his debut, Columbia/Sony Records. The news was announced at a press conference today, and X was quoted saying "I feel like Sony appreciates good music and talented artists,"

It was in 1992 when DMX released his first single "Born Loser", but only his guest spot on the LL Cool J track “4,3,2,1” was when the world started to sit up and take notice of the upcoming rapper. Things only got better from there, as DMX has five albums to his name, and is statistically one of the best selling rap artists of all time.

DMX was allegedly tied to Def Jam until he released 5 more albums, however it appears both parties involved have come to an agreement, which meant DMX, was allowed to terminate his contract at Def Jam. His upcoming album is titled “Here We Go Again” was hyped for an early 2006 release, but now looks likely to drop around spring time.
