Fresh from his recent electronic album project, Chameleon-like Mark ‘Merka’ Ford teams up with MC Esher as Mystic Man & Eshamanjaro to execute a slice of retrospective, cutting edge, beat driven hip hop.  With this single kick starting his debut hip hop project we must again applaud Merka’s production talent; his distain for boundaries and plethora of influences; funk fuelled jazz, the drum & bass feel of Photek;  The Avalanches and even Lemon Jelly.  This is mystic Hip Hop.  And remember we’re just breaking you in gently!

As well as remixes for the Dub Pistols, Unique 3 & Blatta & Inesha, Mark’s impact on the dance scene is well documented. His debut album ‘Beserka’ sited as  ‘...one of the most interesting and captivating albums the scene has ever produced...’ IDJ magazine.

You know we’ve always hated pigeon holes.  Merka’s love and need to dip into the hip-hop scene with his new album ‘Heavy Weather’ many not be anticipated by the hip hop stalwart, but as an accomplished, talent riddled producer and lover of the scene this venture will turn heads in and around it. Set for a release early next year Mark hooks up with friend and fellow philosopher of life Jon Driver aka Eshamanjaro, who takes time out from studying his PHD in Philosophy of Mental Disorder (seriously!) to bring a fresh UK flow to Mystic Man’s soulful Hip-Hop fused beats.

With their debut single – Chesire Cat we inhale a complex & intriguing cut that will compel even the most ardent hip-hop fan to stand up and take notice, whilst still appealing to Ford’s growing body of dedicated Merka followers.

If you like your beats a bit harder and funkier then check out the remix by all-round music maestro Gella, who steps up with a bass-fused electronic monster; another Fat! Protégé soon to be filling Merka’s spiritual boots.  A funk re-edit set to have the clubs rocking in the very near future.
