C-Murder Trial Postponed
Published on 31 January, 2008Email To Friend

C-Murder Trial PostponedThe retrial for rapper C-Murder has been pushed back now until the 9th of June. The legal drama continues for Corey "C-Murder" Miller, as the judge in the case granted a request by attorneys on both sides to postpone the hearing. Originally the New Orleans rapper was scheduled for trial in three weeks time.

During a meeting with Judge Martha Sassone, the assistant District Attorneys David Wolff and Shannon Swaim told the judge that they had a meeting that month with C-Murder's attorney Ron Rakosky. They went on to say Rakosky found names on a list of the prosecutors' witnesses that he did not know might provide testimony, the Times-Picayune reported.

The significane is still unclear, as this was not discussed in court, and Jury selection was set to begin on the 11th of February. Corey Miller has been charged with second-degree murder back on the 12th of January 2002, over the death of Steve Thomas. The 16 year old fan was shot in the chest at the Platinum Clun in Harvey, which is now closed.

Even though there was a unanimous vote from a Jefferson Parish jury to convict Miller in September 2003, the judge granted the rapper a new trial after discovering that prosecutors in the case improperly withheld background information on three defense witnesses.

Another hearing has been scheduled for the 11th of February for the Judge to hear a string of pretrial motions. C-Murder is currently under house arrest as as condition of a $500,000 bond.
