Capital R – The Enigma E.P [Exclusive]

• September 21, 2010 • Comments (1)
It’s not often I’ll review a project or album on Hip-Hop Kings but I felt an exception was necessary for Capital R’s recent E.P titled “The Enigma”. Capital R is a Nottingham-based lyricist who created the E.P independently, from the writing, recording, mixing and mastering. Guest producers are drafted throughout including the likes of Anno Domini, and cuts by DJ 456. Capital R also counts upon J.A.I, YTV, Genesis Elijah and Kaos Theory to contribute significantly on their respective features.

The foundations have been built for any listenable and commercially viable project – great studio quality and fundamental qualities from Capital R including flow, rhyming and substance. His unique demenaor certainly works in his favour, and the down-to-earth approach taken to the creating and promoting of the music is something we can all appreciate and relate to. Typically Captial R is naturally comfortable throughout, with “Reminisce The Times” proving to be a shining example.

Other highlights on the track are the Anno Domini-produced “I Represent (For Hip-Hop) which is the obligatory street anthem on the E.P. The single “City Life” was promoted heavily, and blogged on Hip-Hop Kings ahead of the E.P release. Produced by ATG and cuts from DJ 456 create a very likable track which will be a firm favourite from Capital R fans. The megamix of The Enigma E.P is undoubtadly “You Dont Own Me” which boasts an impressive eight artists including Capital R himself. The heavyweight Genesis Elijah glows as expected, and the other artists hold their own individually too.
For fans crying for the Hip-Hop scene to rediscover the beauty that has seemed to be forgotten, I’d urge to support Capital R by purchasing a copy of “The Enigma E.P” and simply enjoy good music in a seemingly effortless fashion. You can view the artwork and iTunes download link for Capital R – The Enigma E.P below.

I’ve been lucky enough to receive the new Stylah album “Treading Water” which will be available to fans from September 27th both digitally and in-stores. One of the tracks features U.K Hip-Hop artist Smiler called “Killa”. Stylah’s album “Treading Water” also features collaborations from U.S artists Memphis Bleek and Young Safi, along with Tony D. You can listen to Stylah x Smiler – Killa below.

50 Cent – They Burned Me [Music]

• September 21, 2010 • Comments (0)

One of the very few fansite’s I’m registered is thisis50.com, and hot off the press is the brand new (final and mastered version) of the new single “They Burned Me”. 50 Cent is currently working on his fifth studio album titled “The Return of the Heartless Monster” however I don’t anticipate They Burned Me to be featured on that project. Rumour has it 50 Cent has teamed up with incarcerated rapper Lil Boosie on the new album, and also B.O.B who he recently met on Jay-Z’s tour. You can view the official artwork and download link for 50 Cent – They Burned Me below.

• September 21, 2010 • Comments (10)

Hats off to Atlantic / Elektra who have managed to propel Bruno Mars into a superstar in what seems to be an overnight move. From his commercial debut with B.O.B (Nothin On You) Bruno Mars has gone to work with the likes of Travis McCoy and Damian Marley, and has now remixed his latest hit “Just The Way You Are” with Chicago’s Lupe Fiasco. Bruno Mars‘ album Doo-Wops and Hooligans will be released October 5th, as the twenty-three year old prepares to embark on a european tour including performances in the U.K. I’ll update the post with the un-tagged version when it becomes available. You can download Bruno Mars x Lupe Fiasco – Just The Way You Are Remix below.

Talib Kweli Prepares New Album Gutter Rainbows [Upcoming Releases]

• September 21, 2010 • Comments (3)
Hip-Hop star Talib Kweli will be releasing a brand new album titled “Gutter Rainbows” which yet has no official release date. Talib Kweli was speaking to XXL Mag, and stated that J.D Salinger’s novel “The Catcher In The Rye” was the inspiration for the title.
“The character actually says ‘gasoline rainbows’ in the book. I was like, ‘Wow.’ I’ve always wanted to call a song ‘Gutter Rainbows’—just because of the rainbows that you see when the oil and the water mix in the gutter—and do a song based on that. But that reference—him noticing the gasoline rainbows in New York City, and just the character’s love for New York City—are what attracted to me to that phrase”.
I’ll be posting any leaked tracks and further news ahead of the Talib Kweli album ahead of the release. Thanks to Sumit @ TheHipHopChronicle

Lowkey

Lowkey

Arguably the most discussed and gifted U.K Hip-Hop lyricist of our generation, Lowkey releases another highly anticipated track from his anticipated album “Soundtrack To The Struggle” called Terrorist. In usual Lowkey fashion, Terrorist is a very thought provoking revolutionary track and sticks to the Hip Hop roots which his fans love so much. Lowkey had a massive response to his previous single “Obama Nation” which can be downloaded on the link below. You can also watch the new video for Lowkey – Terrorist below.
