In all honesty I’ve never really got into Robin Thicke, but after listening to the new track with Rick Ross I’ve got a much bigger appreciation for him. Rick Ross is following his incredible release of “Deeper Than Rap” with an official video for the “Lay Back” single. Slip-N-Slide are still running a strong campaign with Rick Ross, and hopefully we’ll have some more news about Rick Ross, and other artists soon. You can watch the Rick Ross and Robin Thicke – Lay Back video on the player below.
A new Ghostface and Method Man feature has revealed a story during their early days (early 1990′s) when the duo were touring with the Wu-Tang Clan. A prank pulled on Method Man himself could have taken a turn for the worse, but Tical responded and upset various members of the Wu. You can watch both Ghostface and Method Man speak of the incident on the player below.
We were supporting QuESt right until the release of his infamous Broken Headphones mixtape which proved to be a massive release in 2009. QuESt is now back with his new single Lyrics To Go. There has been some confusion in regards to QuESt’s upcoming projects which he took the time to answer. To summarise he is dropping a new project called “The Reason”. There’s more news but that’s the story for today. To keep readers in QuESt spirit you can listen to the new track “Lyrics To Go” on the player below.
We’ve got hold of a great new single by Souls of Mischief called “Proper Aim”. Released through the record label Hiero Imperium on 25th January 2010, Souls of Mischief are keen to re-establish the buzz that surrounded the group with the release of 93 Til Infinity in 1993. Souls of Mischief were recently interviewed which can be viewed on the link below.
For the new album “Montezumas Revenge” Souls of Mischief have teamed up with legendary producer Prince Paul, and Domino from the group Hieroglyphic’s. The duo’s influence is set to be instrumental in the outcome of the album, which is very focused towards a specific vibe and style. You can listen to Souls of Mischief – Proper Aim on the player below.
HHK: I appreciate you taking time to speak to us Chi-ill. We recently hosted your single “Murda” on the blog which got a great response. What qualities do you feel the single had, which made it blog/radio appealing?
Chi: Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to listen. I think the people are ready for something serious again. Hip-Hop music started as the voice of the victim, the voice of the oppressed and poor but now the poor man’s voice is absent in the music. Many artists in the industry got their checks and started talking about themselves. The industry has become very selfish. ”Murda” deals with a scenario that’s universal in every poor community. In my city the death of Derrion Albert gained national attention, but this is just one story among many. In every hood and in every city these things are happening and the numbers of teen deaths are going up. My music takes us back to when the issues in the community affected us all, and I think the people are ready for that kind of music again. I also think that the people that are online looking for new music on blogs and internet radio are the perfect audience because they’re already looking for an alternative to mainstream radio.
