J. Cole – Power Trip

• February 22, 2013 • Comments (0)

Last week J Cole released his “Truly Yours” EP and promised to follow it up with the first single to his much anticipated upcoming album “Born Sinner”.  Well here it is, with the help of Miguel on the hook Cole puts his spin on a “radio friendly single” for the ladies.  Cole sat down with MTV’s RapFixLive and had this to say:

“The most exciting part about that song ['Power Trip'] and the reason why we went with it is that it sounds like nothing that’s out, and it was between that, and this other record that’s like, maybe a bigger record, but ‘Power Trip’ had that newer sound. They both have a new sound, but ‘Power Trip,’ absolutely you couldn’t point to any song on the radio and be like, ‘Oh, this sounds like that’…everything from the beat to the way that I’m flowing, you’ve never really heard me so sleepy. I really did them verses in my crib and just loved the way they felt.”

J. Cole Releases New EP

• February 13, 2013 • Comments (1)

J Cole got on twitter yesterday to unleash a new 5 song “EP” to tide fans over til his sophomore studio album “Born Sinner” comes out in a couple months.   Cole also makes note that his first single for the album will be released this week, so check back for that

Cole had this to say -

“I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album.. And I have.
Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space)”

Eminem’s 8th Studio Album Due in 2013

• February 11, 2013 • Comments (0)

Shady Records President Paul Rosenburg confirmed to Billboard.com this week that Eminem is “far into the process” of recording his untitled eighth studio album.  He also noted “We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He’s been working on it for some time.  It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”

Paul and Shady have a lot on deck in 2013 with Yelawolf’s sophomore album and 50 Cent’s “Street King Immortal”, both expected to be out in the first half of this year, so lets hope everything lives up to expectations!

Hitchcock Review

• February 8, 2013 • Comments (0)
Hitchcock

Hitchcock

Written by Joe Langham

Alfred Hitchcock was one of the most influential and well-known directors in cinematic history. Anthony Hopkins can be regarded as Hitchcock’s acting equivalent. These two combine in Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock, with Anthony Hopkins starring as the great director. Psycho, the film at the centre of this one, which revolutionised and influenced both horror and cinema, in general, holds almost as much esteem as both these men.
