Koncept 14 Hours Ahead – 29 Facts

• June 14, 2017
koncept 14 hours ahead

koncept 14 hours ahead

We usually share 25 tracks, but Koncept drops some serious knowledge regarding his latest album “14 Hours Ahead”. Enjoy the Koncept 14 Hours Ahead 29 facts!

DOWNLOAD | Koncept 14 Hours Ahead from iTunes

1 – I flew to Seoul, South Korea from LAX airport in California the night of Thanksgiving. I spent it with my LA family, ate a bunch of turkey and mashed potatoes, and drank some wine, and then headed to the airport.

2 – I was only supposed to be in Seoul for only 2 weeks to play some shows and be in the studio. I’ve been here in Asia now for 6 months.

3 – This album is one of the main reasons that made my decision to stay here.

4 – I’m Irish, German, Mexican and Hungarian.

5 – I never expected to live in Asia.

6 – I don’t speak Korean yet, but I am learning. I try to learn at least one sentence a day.

7 – I don’t eat seafood. I’m not allergic, I just didn’t grow up eating it, and I’m just not into it. Although, I should just tell people that I’m allergic so I’m not always looked at like there’s something wrong with me when I tell people.
“Wait, like you don’t east shrimp? Salmon?”

Koncept - 14 Hours Ahead - 29 Facts

Koncept – 14 Hours Ahead – 29 Facts

8 – Some songs on this album were recorded in Brooklyn at Optiks’ apartment. Some songs were recorded in the apartment where I used to live in Manhattan. Some songs were recorded in LA at Tenacity‘s studio aka The Labrynth. Sometimes he engineered them, and sometimes he’d go to sleep and I would record myself all night. Some songs were recorded in my studio that I had in Warwick, NY while visiting family and taking a break from chaos. A couple songs were recorded in Seoul, South Korea.

9 – Tenacity was supposed to be on the beat for Evicted before it evolved into the song it currently is, but we drank too much whiskey the night we first started working on it.

10 – The idea of title “14 Hours Ahead” originally came from the time difference of New York and Seoul, South Korea where I am currently residing.

11 – It’s so much more than that though. It’s being ahead of yourself. Knowing where you’re going to be, knowing what you’ll achieve. Living and working for your future. Manifesting your life.

12 – Most of my clothes and belongings are still in LA. 14 Hours Behind Me. Does someone want to bring some stuff to me?

13 – I miss the taco truck lady at my favorite spot in Korea town in LA. It’s at 8th Street and S. Serrano. Can someone bring me some tacos too?

14 – It’s hard to find a pair of size 11 sneakers in Korea. Size 290 out here.

15 – I designed the artwork for the album. Rob Taylor took the photo of me. Sasha Amesiu helped with some of the photoshop work.

16 – “Photoshop? You weren’t really holding onto that wing outside of the plane?”

17 – The cover art that is being used is the 3rd cover that I had designed to be the official cover. I blame one not working on the very cold weather at the time, and the other… well, it just wasn’t perfect. I’ll post it on my instagram soon. —–> @champagnekonny

Koncept - 14 Hours Ahead - 29 Facts

Koncept – 14 Hours Ahead – 29 Facts

18 – We shot the video for “Understand Me” in Los Angeles before knowing that it was going to be on this album. Shouts to DJ TJ.

19 – It’s the only video for this album that is shot in the states. The rest of the videos are shot all around Asia.

20 – The music video for the song “Overboard” (which will be out in a few weeks) was shot in Thailand.

21 – I had shot a completely different video for that song in Seoul, which is great too, but once I got to Thailand I knew I had to reshoot it on the beautiful island that I was on.

22 – Drake wanted to be on 14 Hours Ahead, I felt he didn’t fit on the project.

23 – My exes inspired some of the songs on this album. Still Drake did not fit this album. Maybe the next though.

21 – I lost a few good friends in 2016. They also inspired some of these songs.

22 – I’ll never again avoid a red flag.

23 – Is there a pun on that last one? Check the track list….. Listen to it.

23 – I had a couple friends let me stay on their couch while I worked to accomplish my goals. I’ll forever be grateful for them. I will buy them a pool in the near future.

24 – I don’t plan on telling them when the pool is going to arrive at their doorstep.

25 – If they live in an apartment, I will make sure to get them a customized pool that fits. And that they can still do a backstroke in.

26 – Hug Someone was recorded in LA right before I flew to Korea. It was a few days after Trump was elected. The US felt like chaos. I was seeing people lose their minds all around me. Even people and reasons that had nothing to do with the Presidency. Just life in general. I felt like people just needed a hug. Maybe it could help. Even if just a little bit. It would at least be a step in the right direction.

27 – Ryan and I met while I was on tour in the UK about 5 years ago in Leeds. He had interviewed me before the show. We became friends instantly. The next time I was touring the UK we had a crazy night that resulted in someone falling asleep at the after party and him getting “Human Jenga’d”. Human Jenga is when you pile everything you can find on top of a person that is passed out. I think he even had a microwave on top of him. haha

28 – I just want to thank you for reading this, and listening to my music. My album is out now, and I really hope you take the time to listen. I hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to write to me on any of my social media pages, and I will respond to you. I would love to hear your thoughts on the music, and how it makes you feel. Much love.

29 – Believe in yourself. Work for what you want, and get what you deserve. You can.

Aesop Rock Get Out of the Car (Video)

• June 11, 2017
Aesop Rock Get Out of the Car (The Impossible Kid)

Aesop Rock Get Out of the Car (The Impossible Kid)

Taken from his latest album “The Impossible Kid”, we have the new Aesop Rock Get Out of the Car video, a touching tribute to Camu Tao.

Aesop Rock spoke in detail about the song which we feel is definitely worth sharing.

“This May 25th marks 9 years since the death of my friend Camu Tao, an event that serves as an emotional and narrative anchor in both this song and my life. I wanted to reflect on things that had changed since, and try to connect some events I hadn’t realized were potentially related.

“I asked my long-time friend and collaborator Coro to create some drawings that would accent parts of the lyrics, and director Rob Shaw was able to guide and weave the video into what it is here.

“Camu was entirely singular as an artist and human. You may notice those who knew him speak of him often still – his presence and humor and imagination and energy and impact. It’s all still right there. I hope some of you that may not be familiar go check out his music. This man was something special.

“Unrelated factoid: This song was originally called “The Impossible Kid,” titled after the line in the song that employs the phrase. I ended up liking the name and moving it up the ladder. I then settled on “Get Out of the Car” borrowed from the last line – which, while a somewhat clunky title, felt like it got to the point nicely.”

Make sure you buy Aesop Rock‘s “The Impossible Kid” from this iTunes link. You can also watch the video to “Get Out of the Car” on the YouTube player below.

Zen6 Grounded ft Pearl Gates and Masta Ace

• June 10, 2017
Zen6 Grounded

Zen6 Grounded

Zen6 Grounded single is the latest offering from the Danish producer. He’s called upon the help of Pearl Gates and Masta Ace for the newest single.

Released via Below System Records, Zen6 Grounded follows up from the collaboration with Wordsworth. Wordsworth as Hip-Hop Kings will know is a member of eMC, so the natural follow-up would be another member in Masta Ace. Zen6 spoke about working with Ace.

“Being a die-hard fan for more than 15 years, working with Ace has been a dream come true” Zen6 says. “Pearl Gates (known for several collaborations with Masta Ace and eMC) came through with a verse and hook which catches the listener’s attention from the get go. “I’m excited about this collaboration and I’m looking forward to hearing the response”.

We’ve had it confirmed that Grounded is now available to download from all digital platforms (iTunes, Spotify etc). We also know it serves as a taster while Zen6 prepares to release his producer/MC album. We don’t have any information on the artwork and tracklisting at the moment, we will share when we do.

C.A.M – Act Like You Know

• June 10, 2017
C.A.M - Act Like You Know

C.A.M – Act Like You Know

Making his debut on Hip-Hop Kings is East London based rapper C.A.M. He presents the video for his single Act Like You Know, which has been uploaded to YouTube.

C.A.M has teamed up with DJ Daredevil who has produced Act Like You Know, which also features samples and cuts from UK legends Rodney P and Chester P. I think you’ll agree the sound is very much 90’s boom bap, with the UKHH stamp over the top.

The director of the video (Aboveground) has created a gret visual to complement the audio. Viewers will see C.A.M in an intense chase throughout the video, blended in with some camera facing rapping. When speaking about the single, C.A.M was quoted saying the following.

“The track is an introduction to my style, flow and character, and also to show listeners that boom bap is still live and kicking and ain’t going anywhere!”

You can watch the official video for C.A.M – Act Like You Know on the YouTube player below.
