Not so long ago I posted a new Fokis track called #JustSayin which is featured on his forthcoming “AVintage State of Mind” project that will be available to download on 21st February 2012. Fokis returns with the second leaked track from the project titled #Salute (King Tee), which as the title suggests pays homage to the West Coast artist. Fokis revists King Tee’s classic “Act a Fool” for his own version of the track, and furthermore announces that King Tee himself will be featuring on “A Vintage State of Mind”. Chess Move Cartel – This Is Actual Dope [Interview]
Chess Move Cartel’s next collaboration sees Shadowstar Boxing Academy dropping the verses on some smokin’ DJ AD beats, with cuts provided by the scratch dealer himself, DJ Jabbathakut. Weezy tracks the supply chain of This is Actual Dope Vol 1
Weezy: DJ AD – how would you describe your sound? And how have you applied it to this, your first CMC joint?
DJ AD: I haven’t really got a sound to be honest; I am many sounds on a daily basis and any moment can evoke a different style of music from me, be it hip hop, funk, house or another genre. I gave Shadowstar Boxing Academy (SBA) around 40 beats and they chose what they wanted to use. Listening to the finished product now, I can see their choices as something unique for the CMC label – not straight-up hip hop beats, but a varied approach aiming at the ‘thinker’ beats, as well as head nod!
