Royce Da 5’9″ Speaks On Eminem Wanting To Work With DJ Premier, “Success Is Certain” [News]

• June 13, 2011 • Comments (2)

Royce Da 5’9″ has spoken about the possibility of Eminem working with DJ Premier, and his work on his album “Success Is Certain”.

Eminem and Nickel Nine release their “Hell : The Sequel EP” tomorrow, and Royce is hoping that Shady links up with Primo. Royce Da 5’9″ also reveals that Primo has contributed towards his upcoming solo album, “Success Is Certain”.

“He only did that one, but he’s currently working on the single to the album called ‘Writer’s Block.’  He’s working on remixing that right now,” he said, turning the conversation towards Marshall working with DJ Premier. “Yeah, everybody’s saying that, man. Everybody’s saying that. The crazy thing is, he’s not opposed to that at all. He’s a huge Preem fan.”

When speaking about his final independent solo release, “Success Is Certain”, the rapper said it was connected to his 2004 album, “Death Is Certain”, but not a sequel.

“It’s kind of like a spinoff of it. When I look back in retrospect, where I was at in my life at the time, it was a dark period in my life. Where I am now, it’s the exact opposite of where I was then. So it’ll have the same dark feel to it, but it’ll speak on triumph, overcoming adversity, the things I went through in the past. The content will be brighter, but it’ll still have that dark feel.”

After the release of “Success Is Certain” on the 26th July, Royce will team up with his Slaughterhouse members to finish their Shady Records debut. “We got a lot of records done, and that’s actually about to be my complete focus, the Slaughterhouse album. Mine and Em’s. We gon’ get this project out and see what it does and shift gears pretty fast,” he said. “We definitely want to get it out this year, sometime towards the end of the year. That’s definitely the goal. We don’t have a date yet, but we did the first album in six days, so it’s not really a long process. It’s not something that’s going to take too much longer than it already has. Everybody’s wrapping up their prior obligations and getting them out of the way so we can focus.”

Royce Da 5'9 - Second Place

Royce Da 5'9 - Second Place

When a Hip-Hop pioneer teams up with a super-producer there’s only greatness as an outcome, cue Royce Da 5’9 with his new street single “Second Place” which has been produced by none other than DJ Premier. Royce Da 5’9 recently featured on the Eminem and Bruno Mars single “Lighters” which some fans criticised, however Royce Da 5’9 has won fans back with this Hip-Hop banger which will hopefully be a more familiar and consistent sound from the Detroit-based Slaughterhouse member. You can listen to Royce Da 5’9 – Second Place on the audio player below.
