The infamous Jedi Mind Tricks are soon to be blessing the stage in London and Manchester as part of their Violence Begets Violence tour. In London, Jedi Mind Tricks will be supported by Caxton Press and Rhyme Asylum in London on Tuesday 14th February, and DJ’s 279 and DJ Snuff and will be hosted by Mystro. On Wednesday 15th in Manchester, This Is Hip Hop and Don’t Flop present Jedi Mind Tricks, with an event that will be opened by an eight-man freestyle battle tournament. Look out for some familiar names on the night. Tickets for the respective shows can be bought using the links listed at the top of the page, and fans can also expect a Jedi Mind Tricks / Hip-Hop Kings interview in the very near future. A familiar name in Lego has joined forces with Jack Danz who is making his debut on Hip-Hop Kings for their collaborative effort “Funbags”. The Leeds-based duo called upon Versatile for production (which Jack Danz also had a hand in) for Funbags which is a great example of the current vibe in the West Yorkshire Hip-Hop scene. Fans of Hip-Hop Kings will be familiar with Lego not only from his participation in the WYCypher series, but also his work in Don’t Flop. Huddersfield and West Yorkshire Hip-Hop ambassador Jack Flash has a brand new video for his single “Steamrolling”. The track was produced by Wizard, and the video has been directed and edited by Paul Cockcroft, and with a massive reaction in the first couple of days, Jack Flash is successfully building the desired buzz ahead of his forthcoming album “Progression”. The album has been delayed until 2012, however we expect to see more promotional work (tracks and videos) ahead of the release. Brand new Don’t Flop battle between Huddersfield Hip-Hop artist Jack Flash and Scottish rapper Depths. This is Jack Flash’s official Don’t Flop debut as he joins a list of other West Yorkshire artists to break into the battle scene in recent times (Lunar C, Jay Snow, Matter etc) and Depths of course is an established battle rapper who made the trip to Manchester for the TTT9 event. At the recent TTT9 event in Manchester for Don’t Flop, Disciple stepped against Shotty Horroh making his debut in his hometown. In one of the most anticipated battles in recent times, Blackpool’s Disciple and Manchester’s Shotty Horroh both put £50 on the line. With over 5000 youtube views in one day, I was lucky enough to be at the event and judge who I thought was the winner at the end. Long time Hip-Hop Kings fan and U.K Hip-Hop artist EvilA has just released his new single titled “No Gravity”. EvilA has also made a name for himself in the U.K rap battle league “Don’t Flop” and is regarded as one of the deepest / lyrically focused artists. EvilA has announced he is releasing a new mixtape in 2012 titled “End of the Words As We Know It Vol.1” and has been working with media company who have been shooting a documentary (more info coming soon). Speaking about his battle with Verb T, his album “Scattered Colours on the Rubix Cube” and a cameo from his rap partner H-to-0. During the recent Don’t Flop battle in London, our Hip-Hop Kings cameraman (@NomadicSporadic) caught up with MOBO winner Soweto Kinch. When asked about new music, Soweto Kinch revealed to fans they can download his new album “The New Emancipation” (download link above) to support his movement, along with an upcoming tour. Lastly Soweto Kinch speaks about the fusion between Jazz and Hip-Hop, and how his new album reflects the new sound. West Yorkshire based Hip-Hop artists Lunar C and Matter have teamed up for their latest single “Ip Op” (produced by Wizard) which has been made available as a free download from the Lunar C bandcamp page (download link above). Lunar C and Matter are notorious Dont Flop battle rappers, and recently teamed up in a doubles match which will be featured on the official Dont Flop youtube page in the forthcoming weeks. You can catch both Lunar C and Matter battling at the next Don’t Flop event in Leeds on September 17th, and will both be at the Hip-Hop Kings afterparty on the same night. Following the massive success of the U.K rap battle league Don’t Flop, Sedgwick Avenue will be the host of the first Don’t Flop event in Leeds. Main battles including Matter vs Pamflit and Lunar C vs Micky Worthless amongst a list of try out battles, plus Hip-Hop Kings will be hosting the after party up until 22:00 Tickets are £3.00 on the door however the Hip-Hop Kings after party is free.
