HHID3: Hip-Hop Isn’t Dead 3

HHID3
Written by Joe Langham.
HHID1 + HHID2 + English Frank Live in Leeds
In 2006, Nas proclaimed that hip-hop was dead. In 2013, scores of artists have been coming together for a series of live shows to prove that hip-hop music is still very much alive. These shows are proudly called Hip-Hop Isn’t Dead. On its third night, Hip-Hop Isn’t Dead has already been upgraded to a larger venue, The Garage in Islington. The line-up combined some of the biggest acts from the first two nights such as Genesis Elijah and Black the Ripper and welcomed some new faces from around the UK including Northern duo Leddie and Smoggy.

Hip-Hop Isnt Dead Review

Hip-Hop
Written by Joe Langham (@JoeLang92)
Hip-Hop Isn’t Dead truly lived up to its name putting on a memorable show of some of the UKs finest rappers. English Frank put together a massive line up, both in names and size, which included talent like Skinnyman, Klashnekoff and organiser behind the Hip-Hop mini-fest, English Frank. The setting, Brixton Jamm, despite being on a main road had the feel of being underground, which was rather fitting for the night.
Reveal, the former Poisonous Poets member, opened the night with a selection of acapellas and a couple of songs from his back catalogue. His solid flow over old school beats helped warm up the crowd for the night of real Hip-Hop ahead.

English Frank – Live My Life [Video]
The well supported and followed English Frank presents the new video to his single “Live My Life”. The London-based rap artist displays his lyrical skills over piano-driven beat, and the video is a scary affair of urban London at it’s worst. English Frank also shouts out some classic U.S Hip-Hop music he listened to as a youth towards the end of the track. English Frank was recently on the SB.TV website which gave him a great opportunity to showcase his work to a much wider audience. You can watch the video from English Frank – Live My Life on the video player below.
