For the constant growing West Yorkshire Hip-Hop scene, nobody is more relevant than Defenders of Style, and their latest mixtape “Dirty Sterling” is once again available for free download. Defenders of Style (Jack Danz, Disgust, Prys, Joe snow, DJ Sirplus) have collectively released the project in an effort to showcase their latest music to the nation. The fourteen track mixtape also includes guest features from the likes of Jack Flash, Matter and Lego amongst other local artists. Dirty Sterling is available for free download from the official Defenders of Style bandcamp page (link above), and you can also view the official Defenders of Style logo here. Hip-Hop Kings are proud to announce that the iconic Sedgwick Avenue brand will be the companies primary sponsor for 2012. For Hip-Hop fans world-wide, the collaboration will see a number of joint ventures throughout the course of next year, including live events, competitions, exclusive music releases and much more to be announced throughout the early stages of next year.

For the historians amongst others, many will be aware that Sedgwick Avenue is widely regarded as the birthplace of Hip-Hop in New York City. In 2011 the Sedgwick Avenue Hip-Hop bar was opened in Leeds City Centre, and was the host to many memorable nights including Pete Rock, Jeru The Damaja, DJ Vadim, and also hosted the U.K battle event “Don’t Flop”. Sedgwick Avenue was also the location where Hip-Hop Kings hosted the official MF Doom after party towards the end of the year.

Owner of Hip-Hop Kings Ryan Maxwell was quoted the following. “I’m delighted to have secured Sedgwick Avenue bar as our primary sponsor for 2012. Both Tony (co-owner) and myself share the same desire to bring quality Hip-Hop to the masses, and this collaboration will allow us to do this in a number of ways. I’m excited that two respected brands and working together for what I’m sure will be an excellent year for Hip-Hop”.

Last month the Fresh Kids Club had their Leeds launch party at Sedgwick Avenue which turned out to be a huge success. This month (Thursday 10th November) will see the second Fresh Kids Club event with a special guest in the form of Savvy (aka Asaviour). Other DJ’s on the night include DJ Logik, Beatmode and Slobodan amongst others, and as always the live artwork will be running throughout the evening. Performances on the night will be coming from Bambooman (Konducters Lab), Thomas (Fresh Kids/Absent Minds), Toxic Logic (Beats and Pieces/Konducters Lab) alongside some graffiti artists and beatmakers. It’s not often we get such a massive lineup of U.K Hip-Hop artist in the North of England, however The Human Shield is proud to present a charity event for Palestine called “Real Talk”. Hip-Hop Kings and Global Faction will be attending to film the event, which will feature a number of U.K artists including Mic Righteous, M9, Rewd Adams, Cyclonious, Jimmy Jitsu and Nate amongst others. Please come and support to not only raise awareness for “The Samouni Family” which consists of 112 children with very little support since the bombardment of Gaza by Isreal. Here is a brand new exclusive from Hip-Hop Kings as I interviewed Hip-Hop legends Souls of Mischief during their U.K tour. You’ll be aware that only a few days ago I reviewed the Rodney P and Skitz show in Leeds (my city), and Souls of Mischief also stopped by to perform. Souls of Mischief were asked about their new album Montezuma’s Revenge, their personal favourite tracks from the album, and my personal favourite Postal.
