Titled a try out match (but far from it), here is the latest Dont Flop video from the TTTT (to the test ten) event in Leeds. Leeds-based Dialect is matched against Wolves based Double L in one of the biggest try out matches I’ve had the pleasure of watching live. I anticipate both artists to participate in further Dont Flop battles in the upcoming months, and look out for the other Dont Flop – TTTT (to the test ten) videos coming in the upcoming days. Following a live show back in November 2011 for the Fresh Kids Club, Savvy (aka Asaviour) is back in Leeds with a live show at Sedgwick Avenue this Saturday (18th) January 2012. With DJ’s TBreaks and 10Tonn on the 1′s and 2′s, Savvy will be playing to a packed out crowd in one of the cities where he is most followed and loved. Hip-Hop Kings are officially sponsoring the event and is another project as part of our collaboration with Sedgwick Avenue for 2012. For the constant growing West Yorkshire Hip-Hop scene, nobody is more relevant than Defenders of Style, and their latest mixtape “Dirty Sterling” is once again available for free download. Defenders of Style (Jack Danz, Disgust, Prys, Joe snow, DJ Sirplus) have collectively released the project in an effort to showcase their latest music to the nation. The fourteen track mixtape also includes guest features from the likes of Jack Flash, Matter and Lego amongst other local artists. Hip-Hop Kings are proud to announce that the iconic Sedgwick Avenue brand will be the companies primary sponsor for 2012. For Hip-Hop fans world-wide, the collaboration will see a number of joint ventures throughout the course of next year, including live events, competitions, exclusive music releases and much more to be announced throughout the early stages of next year.
For the historians amongst others, many will be aware that Sedgwick Avenue is widely regarded as the birthplace of Hip-Hop in New York City. In 2011 the Sedgwick Avenue Hip-Hop bar was opened in Leeds City Centre, and was the host to many memorable nights including Pete Rock, Jeru The Damaja, DJ Vadim, and also hosted the U.K battle event “Don’t Flop”. Sedgwick Avenue was also the location where Hip-Hop Kings hosted the official MF Doom after party towards the end of the year.
Owner of Hip-Hop Kings Ryan Maxwell was quoted the following. “I’m delighted to have secured Sedgwick Avenue bar as our primary sponsor for 2012. Both Tony (co-owner) and myself share the same desire to bring quality Hip-Hop to the masses, and this collaboration will allow us to do this in a number of ways. Last month the Fresh Kids Club had their Leeds launch party at Sedgwick Avenue which turned out to be a huge success. This month (Thursday 10th November) will see the second Fresh Kids Club event with a special guest in the form of Savvy (aka Asaviour). Other DJ’s on the night include DJ Logik, Beatmode and Slobodan amongst others, and as always the live artwork will be running throughout the evening. If you’re around the West Yorkshire area on Thursday 13th October, head down to Sedgwick Avenue for the Fresh Kids Club launch party, which will be packed with Pens, Paint, Beers and Beats. Performances on the night will be coming from Bambooman (Konducters Lab), Thomas (Fresh Kids/Absent Minds), Toxic Logic (Beats and Pieces/Konducters Lab) alongside some graffiti artists and beatmakers. Following the massive success of the U.K rap battle league Don’t Flop, Sedgwick Avenue will be the host of the first Don’t Flop event in Leeds. Main battles including Matter vs Pamflit and Lunar C vs Micky Worthless amongst a list of try out battles, plus Hip-Hop Kings will be hosting the after party up until 22:00 Tickets are £3.00 on the door however the Hip-Hop Kings after party is free. It’s not often we get such a massive lineup of U.K Hip-Hop artist in the North of England, however The Human Shield is proud to present a charity event for Palestine called “Real Talk”. Hip-Hop Kings and Global Faction will be attending to film the event, which will feature a number of U.K artists including Mic Righteous, M9, Rewd Adams, Cyclonious, Jimmy Jitsu and Nate amongst others.
