The Story of Gangstarr by Big Shug
I was excited to share this as soon as I heard it, and of course anything produced by DJ Premier is usually gold. Making his debut on Hip-Hop Kings is Big Shug, who has teamed up with Fat Joe and MOP for his single “Hardbody”. Being credited as one of the founding members of Gangstarr Foundation didn’t do enough for Big Shug to take the limelight, but his upcoming album “I.M 4-eva” is his story wrapped into one album, which features newcomers Reks, Termanology and Slaine amongst others. Fans who buy the album will also have access to a 36-page book titled “The True Story of Gangstarr as Told by Big Shug” which will be available on 24th July 2012. Throughout his career, Billy Danze of MOP has toured globally and met and performed with countless underground Hip-Hop artists. Acknowledging their frustrations and difficulties in obtaining major deals, Billy Danze announces his new project Rap United Nations (RUN). It gives artists the chance to be heard on a larger scale, and with a united front, support each other to achieve one common goal. As I reported earlier in the week, Reks has now released the full length album “Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme” which Hip-Hop Kings readers can download from the link above. To celebrate the release we have another video with is Reks ft Lil Fame from M.O.P for their collaborative track “Cigarettes”. The track also features Attica Barz and has been produced by Fizzy Womack (M.O.P) and directed by Hot Mop Films. Reks has a list of U.S tour dates including shows at SXSW and last night performed at the Notorious B.I.G Tribute concert in New York. Doc Ish will be releasing his album “The First Treatment” which is quickly growing to be the most anticipated Hip-Hop album of 2010. Doc Ish has collaborations we can only dream of including Joe Budden, Bun B, Jay Electronica, Sean Price, Talib Kweli and many more. We’ve already heard “Cut My Throat” which was one of my favourite tracks this year.
