In anticipation of Rhymefest‘s upcoming album “El Che”, the conscious rapper will be releasing a pre-LP titled “Dangerous 5-18″ on Monday 5th April 2010. Regular viewers will have heard Rhymefest‘s track “Letter” which I hosted on Hip-Hop Kings last week, and I have the second official leak from the mixtape titled Familiar Faces. The track may be familiar to a lot of cross-genre loving fans as it interpolates Gary Jules’ “Mad World”. You can listen to Rhymefest – Familiar Faces on the player below.

Rhymefest will be releasing his “Pre-LP” mixtape titled Dangerous 5-18 on April 1st 2010 ahead of the album release of El Che. Rhymefest has leaked the single “Letter” from the mixtape which is also having a video directed to aid the promotion leading upto Dangerous 5-18. Rhymefest addressed fans and is quoted saying “This song (“Letter”) was recorded for the “El Che” album while I was still on Allido Records with live vocals from John Mayer.” If the fans really dig the record, I will release a follow-up statement addressing the Wale situation (how he came about recording his version of “Letter”) in the immediate future.” You can listen to Rhymefest – Letter on the player below.

Ryan Maxwell • February 18, 2010 • Comments (0)

I received word today that Rhymefest has officially set a release date for his upcoming sophomore album “El Che”. Available from 18th May 2010, Rhymefest is currently working at SoundScape Studios with Michael Kolar for El Che, and the news was initially leaked through his Twitter account. El Che will not be released through J Records after problems with the label, however Rhymefest has been working hard self-promoting the album release through UStream which is a great outlet for artists. You can view the official artwork (created by Virgil Solis) for Rhymefest – El Che below.
