I was asked to be interviewed in a documentary by our friends at Fabricate TV which is titled “Unearthing West Yorkshire Hip-Hop”. Along with the likes of Joe Snow, Matter, Hashfinger, Micky Swags and KD among others, we speak about our earliest influences in West Yorkshire Hip-Hop (shouts to Double D Dagger, Yorkshire Terrierz, Chief Wigz and Jack Flash). All interviewee’s also discuss how we feel the scene could be made bigger, and I reminisce on the infamous WY Cyphers. You can watch the Fabricate TV – Unearthing West Yorkshire Hip-Hop documentary on the YouTube player below.
And now for something a little more direct. West Yorkshire based Hip-Hop artist Mury P is part of a group called No Pretense who have been featured on the website for years, and his latest solo track “Fuck You” is arguably the best work to date. Cuts from DJ esSDee, video work from Major Kuts, Chimpink and Bad Look Media and producer Pheend Supreme have all done an excellent job in what I consider is going to be a track that will be on repeat in headphones across the country. Make sure you visit the official Don’t Talk to Strangers website on the link listed above, however you can watch Mury P ft DJ esSDee – Fuck You on the youtube player below.
Leeds-based MC So Sincere has teamed up with our friends at LTMA (Less Talk More Action) for a brand new exclusive freestyle for fans. So Sincere was recently featured on Hip-Hop Kings with her video for the single “Staggering Script” which was filmed and edited by Paul Cockcroft. Hip-Hop Kings fans will also be familiar with So Sincere for her involvement in the #WYCypher videos which she regularly attends. You can watch the LTMA – So Sincere Exclusive video on the youtube player below.
Here is the title track of Spida Lee‘s forthcoming EP “Carriacou Jack 99%” which will be available via Don’t Talk To Strangers in 2012. Spida Lee is a West Yorkshire based Hip-Hop artist who is widely regarded as one of the veterans within the scene, and “Carriacou Jack 99%” will kick off promotion ahead of the new EP. Spida Lee has teamed up with Davo Brown for additional vocals, and credits go to Apatight for the production. Look out for the Hip-Hop Kings shoutout at the very end of the track (trust me – I do know Carriacou Jack) and you can listen to Spida Lee ft Davo Brown – Carriacou Jack 99% on the youtube player below.

There’s not much that gives me greater pleasure than sharing a new Hip-Hop track that gives me a nostalgic feeling of the golden era sound. West Yorkshire based Hip-Hop producer Irn Mnky (Iron Monkey) has teamed up with Nottingham based Cappo, and Leeds based BANE for the new single “Inject The Beat”. Also featuring is DJ esSDee, and collectively all contribute massively to one of my favourite singles of the year. Look out for an official video coming soon, however fans can download Inject the Beat from the iTunes link listed above. You can view the artwork and download link for Irn Mnky ft Cappo, BANE and DJ esSDee – Inject the Beat above, and you can also listen on the soundcloud player below.

West Yorkshire and Huddersfield-based Hip-Hop pioneer Jack Flash has now released his album “Progression” which is available to fans to download immediately. Jack Flash has worked with Wizard for the project, which is aptly titled from an individual perspective, but “Progression” is also highly relevant to the West Yorkshire Hip-Hop scene which has made huge moves in 2011. Fans can download Jack Flash and Wizard’s “Progression” from the link listed above, and you can also watch the Hip-Hop Kings interview and freestyle with Jack Flash outside Sedgwick Avenue on the video player below.
A familiar name in Lego has joined forces with Jack Danz who is making his debut on Hip-Hop Kings for their collaborative effort “Funbags”. The Leeds-based duo called upon Versatile for production (which Jack Danz also had a hand in) for Funbags which is a great example of the current vibe in the West Yorkshire Hip-Hop scene. Fans of Hip-Hop Kings will be familiar with Lego not only from his participation in the WYCypher series, but also his work in Don’t Flop. Lego will be battling at the next Don’t Flop event in Leeds on February 4th and 5th so make sure you come down to support. You can listen to Lego and Jack Danz – Funbags on the video player below.
